Magnetotelluric transfer functions were accessed through AusMT, Australia's Magnetotelluric Data Portal (https://ausmt.auscope.org.au), enabled by AuScope and the Australian Government via the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS).

This survey is under embargo until 2027-02-01: its transfer functions are not yet distributed. Discovery metadata is published now; the data follows when the embargo lifts.

A broadband magnetotelluric survey was conducted over the 2024 and 2025 field seasons to extend the Vulcan 2022 grid to the north-east, across the Vulcan iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) prospect on the Stuart Shelf, in the Olympic Cu-Au Province of South Australia.

About this survey

A broadband magnetotelluric survey was conducted over the 2024 and 2025 field seasons to extend the Vulcan 2022 grid to the north-east, across the Vulcan iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) prospect on the Stuart Shelf, in the Olympic Cu-Au Province of South Australia. The survey adds 20 MT stations at a nominal 2 km spacing, complementing the approximately 1 km grid of the 2022 survey and enlarging the imaged footprint of the electrical resistivity structure beneath the sedimentary cover of the prospect area; the extension ties directly into the 2022 stations so the two surveys can be processed and modelled as a single dataset. Together with Vulcan 2022, the combined grid supports integrated geophysical interpretation of the concealed IOCG system.
