About this survey

A single magnetotelluric line of 17 tensor soundings on geothermal exploration licence GEL 177, about 15 km north of Mungerannie in the Cooper Basin of far northern South Australia. Quantec Geoscience Pty Ltd recorded it for Eden Energy Ltd between 12 and 16 February 2008 as the GEL 177 third of the Cooper MT Project, to map depth to basement and conductive zones at 3 to 5 km depth that might hold a geothermal reservoir. The sites run 16.04 km north at a median spacing of 1003 m, remote referenced to a base 18.6 km west, recorded on Quantec RT-130 loggers with 100 m dipoles and three induction coils, and processed with QGI QuickLay and Geotools 2.3. The Geological Survey of South Australia released the survey open file through SARIG, envelope 12751. AusMT serves all 17 files byte-identical: cross-spectra giving impedance and tipper on 42 to 46 periods, 238.3 Hz to 2621 s. README.md carries the caveats.
