Magnetotelluric transfer functions were accessed through AusMT, Australia's Magnetotelluric Data Portal (https://ausmt.auscope.org.au), enabled by AuScope and the Australian Government via the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS).

About this survey

Twelve long-period magnetotelluric soundings along Geoscience Australia's deep seismic reflection line 08GA-OM1, the GOMA (Gawler-Officer-Musgrave-Amadeus) line, recorded by Adelaide University in December 2008 across 214 km of northern South Australia north of Coober Pedy. Sites LG01 to LG12 occupy every 500th reflection station from 6750 to 1250, about 20 km apart, and each sits within 22 m of one of the campaign's broadband stations. Every site recorded Ex, Ey, Hx, Hy and Hz at 10 Hz on a fluxgate magnetometer with L-shaped dipoles of 49 to 50 m. The transfer functions were processed with BIRRP in December 2008 and span 4 s to 13,107 s, 18 to 24 periods a site. The field notes record a cut fluxgate cable at LG01, whose magnetic channels were reversed against every other site, and a lost fluxgate, cut Ey cable and flat battery at LG06, which carries the shortest band.
