About this survey

Thirty seven magnetotelluric soundings along Geoscience Australia's 08GA-G1 deep seismic reflection transect, which crosses the central Eyre Peninsula of South Australia from near Yaninee in the west to near Whyalla in the east. Twenty five broadband and twelve long-period soundings were recorded by the University of Adelaide and Geoscience Australia between 12 August 2008 and 14 September 2009 under the Onshore Energy Security Program, to image crustal and upper mantle conductivity beside the seismic section. The served line spans 196.6 km, and ten long-period sites share ground with a broadband site, eight of them to within 10 m. Broadband periods run 0.0053 s to 131 s and long-period 10.7 s to 21,846 s; the tipper is present on the twelve long-period files only. Those twelve declare a uniform 20 degree rotation that no document in the delivery explains. They are served in that declared frame, unrotated, and the angle is recorded.
