About this survey

Ninety nine broadband magnetotelluric soundings across the Curnamona Province and the Delamerian Orogen, in western New South Wales and eastern South Australia, recorded for Geoscience Australia by Quantec Geoscience Ltd. with Australian Geophysical Services subcontracted, between 23 February and 22 March 2023 under the Exploring for the Future programme. The survey extends the University of Adelaide and AuScope Curnamona Cube array eastward and southward on a 12.5 to 25 km grid, covering about 349 by 425 km. Each site recorded two 100 m electric dipoles and three magnetic sensors on a Quantec RT160Q logger, continuously at 1,000 samples per second with scheduled 48 kHz and 12 kHz bursts, for a median of 32 hours, every site remote referenced against another site recording the same day. The transfer functions are band merged cross power spectra spanning 9.87459e-05 s to 1191.57 s, 79 periods at every site and 7,821 in all.
