"note": "Tipper transfer functions digitised from Paul, S. K. (1994) PhD thesis, The\nFlinders University of South Australia, Appendix II Table 3A.1, the ROBUST\n(Egbert and Booker robust regression) panel of single-station vertical-field\ntransfer functions. Digitisation: GDS/inventories/paul1994_data.csv;\nstation positions, campaign and recording dates:\nGDS/inventories/paul1994_stations.csv.\n\nWHY THE THESIS AND NOT THE REGISTER: the compilation register's code-3 block\nis derived from this same table, but it carries six gross data rows and a\nsystematic +20 deg error in the printed Lake Frome angles, and it prints no\nuncertainties. The thesis panel carries 1 s.d. errors and is the primary\nprint.\n\nCONVENTION: Paul prints the components Txr/Txi/Tyr/Tyi for x north and y\neast together with the Parkinson arrow, and his own printed arrow angle\nsatisfies phir = atan2(-Tyr,-Txr), the sign-reversed polar Parkinson\nconvention. The components are therefore written with no sign change.\nBecause the components are used, the Lake Frome printed-angle defect cannot\npropagate into this file.\n\nFRAME: geographic. The register reproduces Paul's angles with no\ndeclination term (median difference 0.03 deg over the whole ROBUST panel).\n\nVARIANCES: the thesis states 'the errors (1 s.d) in the estimation of the\nsingle-site transfer functions ... have all been given in Table 3A.1'.\nTXVAR.EXP and TYVAR.EXP are the SQUARE of the printed 1 s.d. for Tx and Ty.\n\nSTATION: HAL HALIDON, thesis campaign LOFL1 (Lower Flinders 1), recording\n1983-09-29 to 1983-12-08. IDENTITY: register STATION_ID 44, FULL_NAME\nHalidon, SHO HAL, REFERENCE_CODE 3. Identity is the register STATION_ID plus\nthe coordinate, never the three-letter code: Paul reuses codes between\ncampaigns (EUR and MUL each name two different stations) and SHO codes\ncollide across the compilation. COORDINATES: the thesis station table,\n-34.860000 / 140.140000; the register prints -34.86 / 140.14 for this\nstation, a difference of 0.00 km. ACQDATE is the campaign's first recording\nday; the thesis gives recording windows per campaign, not per station.\nDates in this file are ISO 8601."
